Sorry.

I thought the whole point of ball's being on CITIES 2 meant they were on the endagered list. Granted, they are nowhere near as endangered as other species, but i'm sure this is or was the whole point of having CITIES?

I know the reason the way they are farmed, is in such a way that it shouldn't affect the wild population, but, this on a whole is good again.

I'm sure i have a point, but i possibly just cant emphasize it properly. Info - US GLOBAL EXOTICS SPCA RAID (1)

Endangered is CITES I, all boas and pythons (except those on the CITES I list) are CITES II.

Ahhh lol, fair enough.

I remember watching an old Dr Gorzula video and i remembered they were trying to get a bigger picture or something, for trading in and farming the species, to protect the wild population and continue with trading in ball pythons.

I've got CITIES 1 and II mixed up, probably because of this, apologies. Info - US GLOBAL EXOTICS SPCA RAID (3)

Why does a rabbit adoption organization get to foster/adopt out an undetermined but large number of reptiles? Thier is nothing on thier website indicating they have reptiles for adoption, or the facility or ability to care for them. I have been to 5 PetCo's all of whom knew nothing about it (the managers), and did find animals in thier care under poor conditions and some lizards that were suffering and in poor health (though they had leopard geckos and ball pythons that appeared fine).

Just sayin'...

Matt, I can answer that for you...

Although I'm not certain why the President of Wild Rescue chose to take in all these animals, I can assure you they are being taking care of properly. The Vice President of the rescue is knowledgeable herself about reptiles. I also stepped in and instructed them about keeping snakes in tubs, using thermostats on UTH's, and generally how to house most of these guys as cheaply as possible, while keeping the animals in good health. I believe once all the foster parents get what fosters they are supposed to get, then the animals will be put up on PetFinder.com. The crazy weather in the DFW area is slowing things down right now.

I cannot answer about PetCo's lack of knowledge about the situation. However, it has been my experience that there always has been a lack of communication between upper and lower management. I believe that the Regional Manager of the DFW PetCo's was in charge of all of this.

Again, feel free to email the rescue itself with any questions. They are very nice, honest people who just love to help.

Hope that helps some!

I can answer that too, money. If it was just about placing the reptiles in good homes they could have done that in more open places, up front about needing to place all these reptiles, and without "adoption" fees. Instead they were going through a pet store no less.

Kathy, I had a response for you, but then I deleted it. Nothing I say will matter. You don't know me and you don't know the rescue. If you want to continue to think this is about money, then fine. Adoption fees exist in order to keep people from just grabbing pets on an impulse. That's for all rescues.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have an herp room to clean.

Adoption fees are a scam. These groups are non-profit, except donations, charge people that want to put their animals up for adoption and then want to charge adoption fees to someone who wants to give a particular animal a good home.

Again, adoption fees exist for a reason.

Have you ever had an animal lost so it could be sent to a lab to be tested on? I have. I had three dogs and a horse stolen from our yard. Some (insert words I cannot say here) went down into our driveway, unlocked our fences, and took our animals. My horse was recovered but the dogs never were. There are horror stories of people and rescues giving out animals for free, only to find out that these animals were flipped to a lab. That is why I support REASONABLE adoption fees.

Granted, there are some horrible rescues. I've seen them with my own eyes. They charge to much and demand the world so you can have the "privilege" of adopting from them. It's sad.

My point exactly. Had grandbaby in lap when I posted earlier so couldn't get out my point but now I can.
This rescue was a bunny rescue, NOT a reptile rescue. It was reported earlier that 10,000.00 a day was being used to take care of these reptiles that were taken from USG. The story keeps changing, now they get no money so they want to charge for adoptions. Even YOU could not explain why a bunny rescue would take in 2000 reptiles that they are not prepared for. Put them into a pet store that sells pets and yet claim no money is made. This whole fiasco is rediculous at best. I feel for the reptiles that have been moved over and over and yet we are to beleive they are getting the best of care. Seems there was no criteria used in placing them in the first place if a bunny rescue was their choice.
NOT to mention that the person you are speaking for didn't place this response in here their selves and are not a member of fauna ( by your words) So truthfully they should have been the one to post a response, if I remember the rules here correctly.

I agree. This whole thing is ridiculous. The animals went to whatever rescue and zoos that stepped up.

I do not know all of the details of the PetCo fiasco.

I will see if I can get Lindsay to create an account and answer on here. Again, we all work days jobs, as well as volunteer.

Have a pleasant day.

I wish I had seen your other post that I missed on the adoption fees but will address that part now as well.
Adoption fees are scams to make money. PERIOD. No amount of money will guarantee what that animal is being adopted for or what will happen to it when they get it. I can pay you for a bunny and tell you he will sleep in a bed of lettuce every nite and as soon as I get him home, feed him to my boa. Therefore the money will not insure a good home. If adoption fees were a guarantee then look at craigslist for all the "adoption fees". There is a good example of how these fees works. Someone on here already talked of how alot of these adoption places go forth and get the best from the pounds so that they will insure a good "adoption fee" and how those fees are spent on good salaries for some.
Those reptiles were seized supposedly for being in such bad care and yet they have been swapped around like bad merchandise by all these so called do gooders. I really wish there was a way THEY could tell the real story and how THEY have been treated since being seized. Atleast by now if they had been shipped from US Global hopefully they would have been sold to someone that would KEEP THEM.

http://www2.wsls.com/sls/news/local/..._animals/79917

Above is a link that was sent to me by Carolina Reptiles. Check out the story.

The problem I have with all of this is that in December, all the powers that be in this situation KNEW they were about to raid a plac with this many animals and these problems if its as they describe. peta, usfw hsu what ever their names were but these organizations KNEW what they were about to do. BUT they certainly didn't care about where all the animals would go or how they would be cared for, just meeting thier own agenda.
In the story above the rescue owner talks of driving 12 hours knowing she was going to go get 1100 animals just a week ago. Where were the animals since Dec? She talks of many of them arriving dead... Who shipped them to her DEAD? Why weren't they getting the care that was supposedly costing $10,000 a day.
Also we have the bunny rescue getting in I think around 1000 reptiles that they weren't prepared for too.
I called Jason Clark with Southeastern Reptile Rescue here in GA. Funny, he didn't get any call to take in reptiles in distress and yet he is about to be on Animal planet with a new show. Premiers March 29th check out his site. He is well qualified in reptiles but he wasn't called to take in any.
IF they KNEW they were about to seize this many animals then they should have been prepared now dead animals are still being shipped to rescues that supposedly aren't getting any of the $10,000 a day to take care of them and asking for more donations to help them? Does anybody see a problem here???????

Day jobs and volunteering do NOT preclude ANYONE from posting on these forums....many of us have 2 jobs and/or work as volunteers, and yet still have the small amount of time needed to make a post or tend to our own animals or goof around on the internet with bunny rabbits that I refer to as "playing with your food". I call shenanigans.

I think this is a whole lot worse than just not showing up to court
