Quote of the day :I know everyday jobs are always hiring , but don’t look for people with pretty faces look for the person that builds that relationship with the guest , don’t look for someone that’s trying to create a better wheel look for someone that’s going to make that wheel last longer in the future because if you look for someone that’s everything you need for the place they will turn out to be something you can be proud of in the future . - Cristobal Briones

Embrace your strengths and build them. No one can be good at everything, but everyone is good at something. When it comes to the things that you're not good at, hire someone who is and build their strengths in that area.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: DAN GENESTMeet Daniel Genest, General Manager, SCI-Merritt. He oversees and manages just about everything done in the field throughout the USA. Get to know Dan, who has been with Merritt for eleven years this month, in this staff spotlight.HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE MERRITT IN 3 ADJECTIVES? Fair, honest, and never cutting corners. In the end, our work is always beautiful. I enjoy the daily challenges of being in the custom business.WHAT ARE THREE CAREER LESSONS YOU'VE LEARNED THUS FAR? First, I cross-train my staff so each person can do someone else's position as needed. Second, when I'm upset, I leave my email drafts overnight. Reading them in the morning brings a fresh perspective and helps me to make decisions. Third, I’ve learned to always have a Plan B.WHAT'S YOUR HIDDEN TALENT? I am a very good short-order cook (dinner style).

Harvard Business Review highlights an entrepreneurial mindset, curiosity, leading from where they are, self-awareness, and growth potential as crucial traits for a new hire. These qualities foster innovation, adaptability, and positive relationships, benefiting both individuals and the organization. As a first-time manager, focusing on culture add rather than fit and considering a sense of humor can also strengthen team bonds and communication. Implementing a robust onboarding program is vital for new hires' success, ensuring clear goals, measures, and support throughout their journey. Shifting to a skills-based approach in hiring and development can help level the playing field and increase talent pool diversity.#NewHire #Innovation #TeamBuilding #Leadership #CareerGrowth #EntrepreneurialMindset #Curiosity #SelfAwareness #GrowthPotential #Onboarding #HBR #Hiring #TalentAcquisition #CultureAdd #SkillsBasedHiring #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #FirstTimeManager #Humor #Adaptability #ChangeManagement #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveWorkplace #EmployeeRetention #Productivity #LearningAndDevelopment
